OUR APPROACH

The Organizational Health Index (OHI) is an easily administered, comprehensive baseline assessment of the underlying health and Regenerative Capacity of the design and operations of an organization. By monitoring and evaluating underlying health and Regenerative Capacity over time, our clients can address underlying issues and create the conditions for thriving, resilient teams, organizations, networks, collaboratives, and communities. While the assessments themselves are comprehensive and revealing, the true power of the OHI is the conversations that emerge from the results.

The OHI returns a numeric score on a 0-5 scale that places an organization in one of three states:

Degenerative (0 - 2.5) Current structures are inadequate to develop a healthy environment where members thrive, decisionmaking is both active and distributed, communication is cycling relevant information and partnerships are diverse and abundant. As a result, the Regenerative Capacity of the system is declining. Transactional (2.6 - 3.75) Current structures are transactional in nature and inconsistent in creating an environment where members thrive, decision-making is both active and distributed, communication is cycling relevant information and partnerships are diverse and abundant. As a result, the Regenerative Capacity of the system is static and siloed. Regenerative (3.76 - 5.0) Members are actively designing and evolving structures that create an environment where members thrive, decisionmaking is both active and distributed, communication is cycling relevant information and partnerships are diverse and abundant. As a result, the Regenerative Capacity of the system is thriving and abundance and resilience are recurring outcomes.

OUR METHODOLOGY CONSISTS OF:

DISCOVERY & INITIAL SETUP

We first seek to understand our client's unique context and establish foundational parameters to ensure the success of the OHI. This could include interviews with the leadership team, core staff, and core partners and clients to gain insights into the healthy functioning of the organization.

IMPLEMENTATION, TRAINING, & ANALYSIS

We work with our clients at each step of the initial OHI to ensure successful implementation in their unique context. We provide training (online or in person) for team members to understand and complete the OHI Assessment. After all team members have completed the online survey, we collate all the responses, conduct the analysis, and generate the OHI scores.

REPORTING & FACILITATED RESULTS DISCUSION

We generate reports that highlight underlying opportunities and challenges within the organization, including recommendations for next steps. Individuals within the organization receive a private report enabling them to compare their own results to the overall organizational results. While the reports themselves are comprehensive and revealing, the true power of the OHI is the conversations that emerge from the results. We also provide a formal presentation of the findings to the leadership team and core staff.

ONGOING OHI MONITORING

After completion of the initial OHI, our clients are equipped to continue to review and monitor their underlying health into the future. The most successful organizations have a continual commitment to monitor and evaluate health into the future. We offer subscription packages to support this process.
